Walkie Talkies Compatible With Rapid Radios
These radios will only work if you’re on the same network as them. That’s a problem in many parts of the country where cell towers are scarce or destroyed by natural disasters. They claim to be made in the USA but the parts are actually shipped from Asia. They also require you to pay a subscription for $50 per radio per year.
A radio is any transmitter or transceiver that transmits and receives signals. Walkie-talkies are handheld portable radios, and they come in a variety of form factors. These two-way communications devices are typically used in the amateur ham 2 meter and 70 cm bands, CB radios (on the citizen band), and police radios. These radios use different frequencies and are mobile in cars or aircraft, or they can be base stations at home or dispatch centers.

They also feature a robust fleet management suite software and no inherent architecture limitation on group or fleet size.
The company advertises that the radios work in areas with no cellular coverage, but their website is full of false advertising. They show a video that shows a cell phone with AT&T getting no signal, but the RR is connected to a cellular tower and works fine. The video also makes it look like the RR can connect to all cellular networks in the US, but that’s also false. The RR only works on the AT&T network and not the other major carriers.

The RR website also claims there are no monthly fees, but this isn’t true either. The radios are sold as a set and there is a $50 per year fee for the service. This includes radio programming and service, but that doesn’t include the cost of the radios.

They don’t mention the fact that they sell radios from China with NO FCC approval or carrier certification in the US. They also don’t tell you that the radios work on cellular networks and ONLY on cellular networks. They make a big deal of showing a video where they’re in a dead zone with AT&T and they still have a signal on their radios – but that doesn’t answer the question about whether the radios will work in an EMP event when all cellular towers are destroyed!
