Vivek Dahiya Shares What It Is Like To Be Addressed As ‘Divyanka Tripathi’s husband’

Vivek Dahiya and Divyanka Tripathi first met on the set of the TV show Yeh Hai Mohabbatein.

In the film and TV industry, it is very common to see comparisons between two actors, whether it is about their latest projects or their endorsement deals. While sometimes this comparison prompts healthy competition, it can also create a needless rivalry between the two actors. Couples who are actors are very susceptible to such toxic comparison, especially when one spouse is deemed less successful than the other. Actor Vivek Dahiya who has acted in shows like Kavach – Kaali Shaktiyon Se and Qayamat Ki Raat, is no stranger to being compared with his wife ‘Divyanka Tripath. Recently, the 39-year-old actor spoke to ETimes TV about what it is like to be addressed as ‘Divyanka Tripathi’s husband’.

Vivek mentioned that when he got married to Divyanka he was well aware of her fame and they discussed how he might be affected by the constant comparison between the two. He said that Divyanka’s parents asked him how he would deal with it and he explained, “I gave them (Divyanka’s family) a very clear reply that I won’t ever compare myself to her unless she compares herself to me. The day you all start thinking I’m Divyanka’s husband and that my identity is limited to that, which is the day when I will not have any control over my emotions. But as long as you treat me with respect, I’ll never let this come in our relationship. This was the pledge that I’d taken.”

Vivek and Divyanka first met on the set of the TV show Yeh Hai Mohabbatein and began dating. They got married on July 8, 2016. While Divyanka started her TV debut in 2006 with the show Banoo Main Teri Dulhann, Vivek got his first TV role in 2013 as a lead role in Yeh Hai Aashiqui. In 2017, the couple won the dance reality show Nach Baliye 8.

Further in the interview, Vivek revealed that he often shares his feelings of dejection with Divyanka. Talking about her understanding of nature, he said, “I’m only human as the years went by and as I started working I started feeling that it’s about time that I get my own identity also. But then it did happen that on certain occasions I do feel a little dejected, I usually speak to Divyanka about this.” He added, “From day one she has understood me so there has never been a problem. As long as she and I are on the same page I do not care what the world thinks.”
