UPS Healthcare has opened a healthcare logistics facility in Dublin, Ireland, the company confirmed via email. The $13.1 million (€12 million) financial commitment covers over 64,500 square feet and has created 30 new jobs thus far. The plant offers freight forwarding and logistics, small package, and freight forwarding services, which are able to connect customers from various industries to a global network.
Technology is able to deliver in-demand storage, along with and inbound and outbound transportation, which can serve as an end-to-end solution for healthcare companies who are in search of simplifying their complex treatment supply chains.
The announcement comes at a time when Ireland’s pharma market more reliant on advanced temperature-controlled logistics than ever; in fact, the industry already accounts for nearly 50% of the country’s exports.1 Also, from 2024 to 2028, and the market is expected to exhibit an annual growth of 6.17%.2
According to UPS Healthcare, 80% of pharma products in Europe already require temperature-controlled transportation. It’s also important to keep in mind that biologics and specialty pharmaceuticals often need accurate, temperature-controlled logistics in order to allow these products to arrive from Point A to Point B, both on time and at the right temperature.

In 2023, UPS Healthcare not only unveiled a new flight path between the US, UK, and Ireland to reinforce the trans-Atlantic trade lane, but it also more than doubled the footprint of its healthcare facilities since 2020. This new facility is connected to a global network of 17 million square feet (1.6 million square meters) of current good manufacturing practice (cGMP) and GDP-compliant dedicated healthcare space, with 10 million square feet (930,000 square meters) of that space dedicated to cold chain.
