Should You Eat Before a Workout or Not?

Modern science recommends eating a well-balanced meal three hours before a workout, and yoga suggests you should work out on an empty stomach to see the desired results. However, Dr Dimple Jangda says you should understand your body type and plan your diet accordingly.

1. Endomorph Body Type

Dr Jangda says if you have a sluggish metabolism, a tendency to fall ill easily or gain weight quickly, then you should work out on an empty stomach. The Ayurvedic health coach suggests you should do up to 50 percent or more of your body strength. To turn on your metabolism, you should work out until you start sweating before consuming your first meal. This would help with weight loss and digestion.

2. Mesomorph Body Type

People with a mesomorph body type have muscles and a high metabolic fire. They tend to gain or lose weight easily. If you incline acidity, a burning sensation, acid reflux, or skin disorders quite quickly, then you must take care of your metabolism and have a handful of nuts before working out. According to Dr Jangda, this will engage your stomach acids and prevent them from coming up during your workout session.

3. Ectomorph Body Type

According to Dr. Jangda, people with an ectomorph body type have a tendency to lose weight easily and become restless. If you have such a body type, it’s best to have a sweet fruit like an apple or banana to keep your body grounded during and after the workout.

Bonus Tips:

1. Dr Dimple Jangda recommends all three body types avoid eating salty, sour, spicy, and deep-fried foods before a workout.
2. As for working out, the Ayurvedic health coach recommends working out only until you start sweating, then switching to cooling exercises. Once your metabolism is revved up, make sure to stay active the whole day.

Why Should You Work Out Regularly?

Whether or not you are trying to lose weight, working out and exercising is important for the overall well-being of the body. If you aren’t feeling motivated to exercise, here are 5 reasons that might change your mind.

1.Improves Mental Clarity

Working out or exercising increases the blood flow to the brain, which helps improve concentration, focus, and alertness. This can help boost mental clarity and improve overall cognitive function.

2.Improves Mood

The feel-good hormones in our body, endorphins, are released when you exercise. This can help reduce stress, anxiety, and depression. So, if you exercise regularly, you will have a positive effect on your mood and emotional well-being.

3. Improves Sleep Quality

Physical activity can help regulate your body’s circadian rhythm, making it easier to fall asleep at night. Regular exercise also sets a sleep pattern for your body, which helps you wake up refreshed and energized in the morning.

4. Increases Energy

Working out regularly can increase the blood flow and oxygen to your muscles and tissues. This can help you get a natural energy boost. If you work out first thing in the morning, you will feel energized and alert for hours after that.

5. Builds Up Immune System

If you exercise regularly, you can enhance your immune system. Physical activity increases the production of white blood cells, which are important to defend your body against viruses and bacteria.
