With the launch of a new MPharma programme, Lucknow University (LU) is getting ready to introduce an exciting new addition to its academic offerings. According to a report by the Times of India, Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University (BBAU) plans to simultaneously establish the BPharma programme at its satellite campus beginning with the upcoming academic session in 2024–25.

As part of its efforts to support students who want to pursue careers in pharmacy, LU has been offering BPharma and DPharma courses at its secondary campus. While the university’s dedicated pharmacy building is still being constructed, these courses are currently held on the premises of the department of engineering.

According to LU spokesperson Durgesh Srivastava, nearly 80 per cent of the construction on the pharmacy facility has been completed. Looking ahead to the next session, he felt enthusiastic about conducting classes in the newly built space. “We currently offer 100 seats in BPharma, 60 seats in DPharma, and are likely to offer 60 seats in MPharma,” Srivastava was quoted by TOI.

Srivastava underlined how the MPharm programme can lead to a variety of specialisations and highlighted the plethora of job options that follow the completion of the programme. Graduates can look into jobs in both the government and corporate sector, such as positions in clinical trials, drug control, drug regulatory affairs, hospital and community pharmacy and other relevant industries.

By acting proactively to address the changing needs of the pharmaceutical business, LU and BBAU are giving students access to extensive educational possibilities and broadening their perspectives on the pharmacy field. Plans are also being worked on by Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University to begin undergraduate pharmacy courses at the Amethi satellite campus.
