Missed CLAT? Here’s Your Guide to Other Law Entrance Exams Across India

Lucknow University’s syllabus comprises the three-year and five-year LLB courses.

Candidates who failed to score well in the CLAT exam can try attempting the CUET LLM entrance exam.

CLAT (Common Law Admission Test) is a centralised national-level government entrance test for admissions to 22 national law universities in India. Most self-financed and private law schools in India also use these scores for admissions to the law. CLAT 2024 Counselling is currently going on. Students, who couldn’t attain a good score in CLAT will not be able to get admission in the law course. They, however, can try to clear the other exams related to the law course. Registration for many of these entrance exams has not been started yet. This space articulates the list of the names of these exams.

1. CUET PG LLM: Candidates who failed to score well in the CLAT exam can try attempting the CUET LLM entrance exam. The scores in this exam can help the candidates gain admission to Delhi University Banaras Hindu University and Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University. They can also get admission to Hemvati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal University and Guru Ghasidas Vishwavidyalaya, Bilaspur. CUET Law PG 2024 notification can be checked at https://pgcuet.samarth.ac.in/. Registration for CUET PG will be started on January 24.

2. NLSAT: The National Law School Admissions Test can also be considered for admission to the National Law School of India University (NLSIU). This entrance test can also be a way to secure admission to the three-year LLB course. The last date to apply for this is February 24. For more information, candidates can visit the official website www.nls.ac.in.

3. MH CET Law: Maharashtra Common Entrance Test Law can also be a good option for candidates who couldn’t clear the CLAT exam. Maharashtra CET has shared the Law Entrance Exam schedule on its website. The last date of registration for this five-year LLB program is May 3.

4. Lucknow University LLB Entrance Test: Lucknow University’s syllabus comprises the three-year and five-year LLB courses. The university has not yet released the notification for the entrance exam. For this candidates should regularly check the website of Lucknow University.

5. Calcutta University BA LLB Entrance Exam: Calcutta University also conducts a five-year BA LLB course for law aspirants. Registration for the BA LLB entrance exam at this university will be done in June or July.
