Four Students of Madhya Pradesh Die by Suicide After Poor Board Exam Results

As many as four in Madhya Pradesh have died by suicide after the class 10 board exam results 2024 were announced recently, reported the Times of India. This includes a 16-year-old class 10 female student of Gwalior, a 16-year-old male student of Sehore, an 18-year-old class 12 student of Sikarpura area in Burhanpur, and a 19-year-old tribal student of Khargone. Most of these students had failed in maths, the report added. Two more class 10 students of Betul had also attempted suicide and are currently on ventilators.

The Madhya Pradesh Board of Secondary Education (MPBSE) released the MP board classes 10th and 12th results 2024 on April 24. A total of 64.49 per cent of MP board 12th students passed the exam while 58.10 per cent passed the 10th exam. Girls have outperformed boys. Around 16 lakh students took the MP board exams 2024. The MPBSE 10th and 12th supplementary examinations will commence on June 10, 2024.

Apart from MP, around seven students of Telangana have died by suicide, the report added. This includes a student from Medak district who had failed in chemistry exam for the second time a student, a student from Khammam who was unable to clear the maths exam, a 17-year-old boy from Kollur and a second year inter student from Mahabubabad who failed in her commerce paper.

Another student from Rajendarnagar who was pursuing BiPC course from a college in the state, had also died by suicide after she allegedly failed in a subject. The girl hanged herself on the ceiling fan in her house and a case has been registered.
