The Common University Entrance Test-Undergraduate (CUET-UG) concluded with 1.52 lakh candidates appearing for various test papers in Delhi-NCR on Wednesday, according to the National Testing Agency (NTA).
On Wednesday, the exam was conducted for four test papers — Chemistry, Biology, English, and General Test across exam centres in Delhi, Noida, Gurugram, Ghaziabad, and Faridabad. The exam saw 78% to 81% attendance for different test papers.
The exam for Delhi, which was earlier scheduled on the first day of CUET-UG on May 15, was postponed to May 29 hours before the test, causing confusion among students and parents. The NTA had then said that the exam was postponed due to “unavoidable reasons”. At many other centres, there were issues with the downloading of admit cards to the exam centre as the NTA website crashed the night before the exam.
However, despite the hiccups, over 25 lakh candidates sat for the exam on the first day of CUET-UG, which comprised 44.71% of the total scheduled slots for students registered in the pen-and-paper mode.

“CUET-UG 2024 has been conducted by the NTA in hybrid mode at various exam centres in 379 cities including 26 cities outside India, for about 13.48 lakh candidates,” said Sadhna Parashar, senior director, NTA.
Conducting the exam in hybrid mode this year, she said, reduced the exam duration from 34 days last year to eight days this year.
Last year, the exam schedule was stretched for over a month because of the unavailability of as many computer labs at all locations and, hence, it was decided to conduct the exam in the hybrid mode this year.
Results of CUET-UG are expected to be out by mid-June.
The NTA has been mandated by the ministry of education (MoE) and the University Grants Commission (UGC), the higher education regulator, to conduct the test for admissions to undergraduate courses in central universities as well as other participating universities across India and abroad.
Meanwhile, the Knowledge Tradition and Practices in India (KTPI) test was also conducted on Wednesday in CBT mode along with some affected candidates in specific subjects in Kanpur, Indore, Goa, and Siwan in offline (OMR) mode.
“Proactive steps have been taken by the NTA to support the students’ community by conducting the examination on May 29 (Wednesday) in Silchar, Assam for those candidates who were facing difficulties in appearing at the centres outside Silchar for Bengali and Environmental Studies test papers,” Parashar said.
The NTA, she added, also made special arrangements to accommodate a single candidate residing in Germany by facilitating her to appear for the exam with the support of the Consulate General of India, Frankfurt.
